CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) refers to the certification owned and awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. A CFP® professional is trained in the area of financial planning, estate planning, taxes, investments, insurance, and retirement planning. The role of a CFP® professional is to integrate all of these disciplines creating a plan that serves the best interests of you and your family.

A Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) is a professional designation given by the CFA Institute, formerly AIMR, that measures the competence and integrity of financial analysts. Candidates are required to pass three levels of exams covering areas, such as accounting, economics, ethics, money management, and security analysis.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a designation given by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants to those who meet education and experience requirements and pass an exam.

A Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a graduate degree earned at a university that provides theoretical and practical training to help graduates gain a better understanding of general business management functions. The MBA degree can have a general focus or a specific focus in fields such as accounting, finance, or marketing.

A Master of Science in Taxation (MST) is a highly specialized form of a graduate accounting degree that strives to build a solid core of knowledge in the complexities of tax law.

Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) is a professional designation granted by the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association to candidates who have completed Level I and Level II examinations. The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association has established the designation of CAIA to certify that the holders have met the association’s educational standard for specialists in the area of alternative investments. The alternative investments that a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst is trained to assess include hedge funds, venture capital, private equity, funds of funds, derivatives and real estate investments.

A Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA) uses their knowledge of tax law, asset distribution and short- and long-term financial planning to achieve equitable divorce settlements.

The Investment Management Certificate Program (IMCP) is a 21-month training program in investment finance offered by the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Students in the IMCP carry out various duties of a financial analyst, performance and risk manager, financial planner, and portfolio manager- all while managing a real money portfolio. CFA recognized The IMCP is part of the prestigious Charted Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute University Affiliation Program.

Individuals who hold the ADPA® designation have completed a course of study encompassing wealth transfers, federal taxation, retirement planning, and planning for financial and medical end-of-life needs for domestic partners. Additionally, individuals must pass an end-of-course examination that tests their ability to synthesize complex concepts and apply theoretical concepts to real-life situations.

The Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation is given to full members of STEP (Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners) which is an international professional association. Membership is by examination and members have specialist knowledge and experience in relation to inheritance and succession planning.

Juris Doctor is the highest education available in the legal profession in the United States.
